Exhibition next week

Once again, it's been aaaggeess since I posted a blog on here....

When I quit my full-time Studio Manager job almost exactly 8 months ago now, I was optimistic about having the flexibility, and time, to do more paintings. The fact that I haven't, and have done fewer paintings this year than the previous several years is both positive (sort of) and negative. Negative - because I'm worried I'll forget how to do it(!) and love spending hours getting lost in my own little world. From a sort of positive angle, the fact that I've not had time to paint is testament to just how lucky I have been during my first 8 months freelancing! I have been busier than I ever imagined, and have some wonderful clients. I have been able to work on so many different kinds of design projects, both large and small, so although I've not painted much, my creativity is flowing pretty much every day :)

I am excited to be taking part in the 13th Ipswich Sea Scout Group Art Exhibition next weekend (25th & 26th November). Richard and I are attending the Preview Night on Friday 24th. I have designed the poster and flyers for the event again this year, and an advert that should appear in the local newspaper on Thursday 23rd. The organisers were very kind in offering me a space in their event programme so I have also designed an advert for my design services for that.

I will be exhibiting three paintings at the exhibition this year. I sold two out of the three I exhibited last year, so will not be expecting anything quite that successful two years in a row! I will have 'Beside the Sea,' 'Isolation' and 'Fall Forest' up for sale this year. 'Fall Forest' is actually a very special painting (shown below), which I have only just added to the Gallery page. My Grandma had it hanging in her dining room for several years and I never got round to photographing it. She passed away in June this year and I am now hoping that someone else will give it a home for the rest of their life too! :)
